Preparing a HEIC Pet Photo for Customization
Published 2026-09-09
Using an iPhone photo of your pet? Check the file, allow preparation to finish and keep a JPG alternative ready before choosing your artwork style.
Start with the Original Photo
Use the original still photograph when you can, rather than a screenshot of a photo inside a message. Open it at a larger size and check the details you want the artwork to retain: the eyes, ears, fur markings and outline. A file that opens successfully can still be blurry or have part of your pet outside the frame.
Choose a different source photo if an important feature is missing. Converting the file format does not restore details that were never captured. For broader advice on framing and lighting, use the Photo guide linked below.
Check the Supported File Before Continuing
Choose a still JPG, PNG, WebP or HEIC photo, up to 15 MB and 40 megapixels. Supported HEIC photos are converted on your device before upload. If conversion fails, export a JPG and try again.
Keep the original file while preparing an export. If your photo is over the size or resolution limit, save a smaller still copy and check that the pet remains clear before selecting it. Avoid repeatedly compressing an already compressed copy.
Wait for Preparation to Finish
After selecting a HEIC file, allow its preparation to complete before moving on. The format conversion takes place on your device. Selecting the file is not the same as completing the upload, choosing a style or requesting generation.
If the conversion fails, export the original as a still JPG and select that new file. Check the exported image yourself: the correct pet, orientation and full intended outline should all be visible. This gives you a practical alternative without needing to change the photograph you want to use.
Know What Is Saved Temporarily
Choosing a photo uploads a temporary copy so you can continue through the creation steps, including signing in. Temporary uploads expire after six hours. A photo used for a generation is linked to your account.
If you return after the temporary copy has expired, select your original photo again. Keeping a copy on your own device makes it easier to resume. Preparing a file does not itself produce an artwork or place an order.
Check Availability Before Planning a Gift
Live purchasing is not open yet. New artwork generation is not available yet. Prices are in USD. Pet tag designs can be saved while pricing is prepared.
You can use this checklist to prepare your photo now. Check the current product page before expecting a generation or a paid order to be available.
